Although England is not very well known for making whisky, there were distillers operating in London, Liverpool, and Bristol until the late nineteenth century. Production of English single malt whisky fell silent at the start of the twentieth century, only to resume a century later at the start of the new millennium. There are currently at least six distilleries producing English Whisky throughout England. The main characteristics of English Whisky are apples, cream, and cloves.
